“Under The Rainbow” by Cedarsmoke

“Under The Rainbow” feels like an album that was built slowly, piece by piece, with a clear idea of where it wanted to go. Cedarsmoke lean into the concept without letting it box them in, using colour as a loose thread rather than a strict rulebook. The result is a record that moves naturally between moods—sometimes hushed and reflective, other times restless and unpredictable.

There’s a nice balance in how it’s put together. Acoustic guitars and piano keep things grounded, but there’s always something shifting underneath—loops, synth textures, small details that stop the songs from settling too comfortably. Tracks like “Kicking Drugs” bring a bit of urgency, while others drift into more spacious territory, giving the album room to breathe.

What stands out most is the pacing. It doesn’t rush through its ideas. Instead, it lets each moment stretch out just enough to land properly. Even when it gets abstract, there’s still a human core holding it together—questions about change, belief, and starting over again.

By the time it closes, the whole thing feels cyclical, like it’s come back to where it started but with a bit more clarity. It’s thoughtful without being heavy-handed, and ambitious without losing its footing.
